Natural MD Radio: Epstein-Barr Virus – A Stealth Infection

“Times of stress, fatigue, and going through major life changes, even for example big hormonal changes like perimenopause, can cause us to be particularly susceptible to new infection, reactivation of the virus, and then getting symptomatic.” – Aviva Romm

Today I’m talking about an infection that I’ve been seeing a lot more in my practice: Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV). What is EBV and what is the link between it an Hashimoto’s disease?

Hello, can you recommend A doctor in the Houston Texas area for someone with adrenal fatigue and EBV? I am 53 years young! Thank you

Hi Elizabeth! I am the nurse practitioner in Dr Romm's practice, and I often hop in to answer comments and questions since Dr Romm doesn't always have time to get to them all! You can find a list of functional medicine trained practitioners here: Hopefully you can find someone close by! Best of luck, ~amanda, APRN

I recently came across your podcast and love it. I had severe mono with liver swelling that required 1 month of bed rest almost 20 years ago and my quality of life has never been the same. I can't wait to try your protocal! I have ordered your book but have a question. I was wondering if PCOS is related to EBV and if it is also addressed in your book?

I don't know of any connection between PCOS and EBV, but EBV and thyroid, yes, there appears to be a connection - and certainly EBV with other autoimmune disease.
