Depletion has been women’s middle name for far t Depletion has been women’s middle name for far too long. I see it all the time in my medical practice and among students And it doesn’t serve us now and certainly doesn’t sustain us for later.

It’s not always the new supplement. The hormone therapy. Or something we need to eliminate. And it’s almost never just those.

It’s often that we need to feel more deeply nourished. Calmer. Fed by our lives.

We each know where we need to nourish, replenish. The question that I hear come up for most women, at the deepest level, is do I deserve to make the time, do or not do the things, accept or seek the help.

No matter who you are, how busy you are, your whole life and everyone who needs and loves you , depends on you being nourished.

So even if you have doubt about your own worthiness to make that time for the walk, the bath, to read that book, sit down and enjoy the meal, or take that bigger deeper plunge: a vacation, a new business, education. Yes, you deserve to be nourished.

Wishing you a moment to find nourishment and replenishment today. Tell me how you’re going to do it in the comments!

Mine was a slower start to my morning instead of heading into Monday in urgency and panic over all there is to do.

When my daughter-in-law was pregnant and had a mil When my daughter-in-law was pregnant and had a mild headache, I showed her how to use a few drops of lavender EO to rub into her temples. Why? Well I am the family herbalist and after 40+ years as a midwife, a physician, and a mother, I’ve learned this: pregnancy doesn’t mean you have to just grit your teeth and endure pain. And it doesn’t mean medication has to be your only option for every symptom.

Yes, acetaminophen (Tylenol) is considered the safest medication in pregnancy when truly needed for headache or fever, but if you’re concerned about using it or want to try a natural approach first, there are options. Please see my previous post and my article on this - as I discuss Tylenol is also a legit and appropriate choice for headache and high fever, for short term use in pregnancy.

Headaches in pregnancy can be triggered by dehydration, posture and muscle tension, blood sugar dips, anemia, stress, or environmental triggers/allergies.

They can also, later in pregnancy, be a sign of something more serious: hypertension or preeclampsia. If you ever have a sudden or severe headache, especially with vision changes, swelling, or upper abdominal pain, that is not the time to wait it out—call your doctor or midwife right away.

In the carousel you’ll find the remedies I’ve trusted and recommended for decades for mild to moderate uncomplicated pregnancy headaches both for treatment and prevention.

After decades of caring for women, here’s what I know: your symptoms matter, your comfort matters, amd your concerns matter

What questions do you have about safe natural symptom relief in pregnancy? Ask me below—I’m here for you.

As an integrative MD + midwife, when a natural opt As an integrative MD + midwife, when a natural option is possible, it’s always the path I take. But when we’re pregnant, sometimes the choice we need is the medication. For a full article on this nuanced topic see Link in Bio.

Tylenol has long been considered the safest option for fever and pain in pregnancy.

Yes, some studies suggest possible links to neurodevelopmental outcomes. We can't ignore this. Some actually suggest a protective effect. And untreated high fever carries real risks for both mother and baby.

Evidence to date supports that using Tylenol when needed for high fever or moderate or more pain, short term, is totally appropriate. It's what I'd tell my own daughter.

But instead of supporting women with balanced evidence, we’re being told by Trump to “fight like hell not to take” pain relief and just “tough it out.”

That’s not good medicine. And why is that an opinion we’d listen to?

Women who need antidepressants in pregnancy are also being shamed right now, despite untreated depression carrying serious risks for both mother and baby.

We deserve better. Clear, accurate evidence. Respect for our ability to weigh risks and benefits. Without guilt. Without shame.

And it means being supported in doing what’s best for us and our babies. Sometimes it’s a bit of lavender oil on our temples for a headache. Sometimes it means Tylenol. It always means using what we need, wisely and thoughtfully. No guilt. No second guessing. Protecting your baby means taking care of yourself.
